Thanksgiving!

So, it's the time of year where you take a look at your life and regoncize what things you are thankful for. So, after taking a smoke and coffee break, this is what I thought up......

I'm first of all thankful for my little family, thankful for my parents, thankful I still have a job!, thankful for my friends who are there for me when I need them...thankful for Abner Doubleday for helping to make baseball!

Ok, go that out of the system and now on to our regular schedule broadcast.

So, I was talking to a customer Wednesday before Thanksgiving and jokingly asked if she was going shopping on Black Friday and she says, "We can't call it Black Friday anymore, we have to call it an 'Event Day'." I was like, why?! She said the company her daughter works for didn't want them offending our new President, so we couldn't call it Black Friday anymore. WTF!!! How stupid have we gotten? Pretty soon, I won't be able to order my coffee black, it'll have to be, I'll have a coffee....with out cream or sugar.

We had a great Thanksgiving Dinner at my grandmothers on Thursday and Brandi Lou will have the pics up later today and I'll get them posted too.

We missed our second Class Reunion last night....not having any money is really begining to suck butt!!

Nothing else really new to report, but stay tuned, you never know what may happen.

Happenings in the Alderman Family

I gotta get better at updating this thing!! Not that to many people read it, but.....

Anyway, not much new is going on here. We are still packed into Mom's little apt. as we look for another home. The prob is $$ or not having any. Kids are doing great, Brandi is back at work doing her on-line design stuff and work is work for me. Really not much of interest to update on. Maybe something good will finally come our way and I can update this with a smile on my face.

What a crazy month!

Wow, September has proved to be a crazy month for the Aldermans! Things had felt like they where getting back on track, but then our luck came into play and WHAM, another curve was thrown to us. As of Saturday, we are going to be living back with my mom for a bit. You can say our lease came up....It's a little more involved then that, but I would rather not get into it. Anyway, it's been a hectic week, trying to get everything packed and stuff taken care of. And of course the kids are really confused, and are acting out. Emmy has decided that everything thing on the floor or on the desk, or found in the couch is edible. She seriously has tried to eat everything from toys, to coins, to pieces of a broken necklace and bottletops! It's very tough to follow my little princess around and make sure she's not trying to but stuff in her mouth! Sky on the other hand, has ratcheted up his attidude a bit and last night we had to sit down and have a little chit-chat. He tells me that he hates getting yelled at and thinks he should run-away again. He said that he was gonna go back to Grandma DD's cuz she doesn't yell at him. After I explained that if went to Grandma DD's and didn't do what she asked him to, she would yell at him too... He thought about that for a little bit and I think he realized that he doesn't have it that bad with ol'mom and dad.

Work has been very stressfull, but I applied for a different position within the company and have had preliminary conversations with the hiring dept. regarding it. I'm not going to talk about it to much because I don't want to jinx myself or let myself get my hopes up to much. So, I'm just going to ask everyone to say a quick prayer for us!!

Not much else happening....tomorrow is our High School 10 year reunion and we are not going. Just not the right time for us, as we are moving this weekend and everything. It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years....I'm sure there will be lots of pics posted on FB over the weekend, so that will be cool. Also, my friends Jackie and Chris are getting married on Sunday and we are going to make every effort to go. I'm so happy for those two!!

So, yeah....it's been a long while since I've blogged. So much going on and some of it I'm not able to discuss (work related). On other fronts, let me catch ya'll up:

1) My father survived his bout with a severe infection of his lower intestines by having a small section removed. That was the easy part, the hard part was getting him off the ventilator, due to the diminished lung strength. But thank the good lord, we got him off and now he's in Maplewood Nursing home in Ballston Spa.

2) Skylar has had a great summer and is ready for 2nd grade. He's going to be in Mrs. DeMarco's class and has a few friends from first grade in his class, so that's cool.

3) Brandi has been looking for a part-time job to help with the bills, but hasn't had much luck. She's been bustin' her booty looking though and even had an interview with the Mechanicville Public Library. She didn't get it, but....maybe next time.

4) Work has been tough but we are moving along. I'm optimistic that I will eventually get a store, but I'm also hedging my bets by taking the Saratoga County Sheriff's exam this fall.

5) My 10 year high school reunion is planned for Sept. 18 in Troy, but I don't think that I'm going to make it. It's weird cuz I was kinda excited about seeing everyone I graduated with, but it's faded pretty quick.....I don't know, we'll see.

6) Good news is that Brandi became friends with some people I went to school with and our little circle of friends here in NY is growing! That's cool!

Anyway, not much else happening. Today is a relaxing, no noise, no rush, no nothing kinda of day and I love IT!

So as if things weren't stressfull enough....Brandi Lou and I have strep and I can't go into work until after store closes cuz I'm contagious. Wonderful! Another thing for people to throw in my face. But I'm planning on working until very early in the morning to get everything done and I'll show them!!

A Proud Father

Yesterday was one of the proudest days of my life as a father. I got to watch my son play T-Ball and as a baseball freak, it was so awsome! Watching your children grow up before your eyes, mature, interact, show thier personalities...it's really amazing. I thank God everyday for my children and what they bring to my life. To see Skylar out there, in his little uniform and hat, I was so friggin happy.

And yesterday was also the 4 year anniverary of the day Brandi and I said our vows. I love this woman with all my heart and we have two beautiful children and no matter what we go through in this life, we will have each other, and for that I am truelly thankful.

On to some other things; my knee feels a little better today. I just hope that I can last the whole day at work. Yesterday was tough. I started the day feeling pretty good, but about 2pm it really started shutting down. But I slept pretty well last night and I can put a little more pressure walking on it today.

Well, just wanted to say Happy Easter to everyone. Hope everyone really embraces this day with your families and at some point, take a step back away from the commercialization of the this day and really think about why we celebrate this day.

On another note, I went to the doctor's yesterday about my knee and was told I have a strain of my Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL). I tore my MCL when I was 13 and this seems to be a strain of that injury. The doc doesn't think I re-tore it, but if the pain doesn't subside in a few days, it might be cause to worry. So, I'm taking some anti-inflammatory pills and rest it best I can.

The Easter Bunny was very good to the kiddies and I bet he made a stop of Grandma DD's! Sky is so into these Bakagun's and so is Emmy, which is very cute. So I'm thinking I might have to get a few and try to understand so I can help Sky Mike enjoy it a little more.

Good Things/Bad Things...

So this week has been an interesting one...I've been dealing with a lot of drama at work and now on top of everything else, my left knee seems to have put me out of commission. As a matter of fact, I'm sitting here watching the clock tick closer to 8am so I can go to the doctor's office and try to find out what's wrong with this thing. I haven't seriously felt this much pain in my knee since I was 13 years old and tore a ligament during a
Pop Warner football game!

As far as work is concerned, I'm pretty much a marked man. I had the absolute worst review of my entire career last Saturday. It was really bad and I felt and still feel that it was more personal then professional. I was judged on two really bad weeks, as opposed to 6 months worth of work. Those 2 weeks where when I found out my father was dying and I had a lot on my mind. It took me a little bit to get my mind in the right place as much as I could, but I did and continued to do my job. Well, during those two weeks, certain employee's felt that my attitude was not a benefit to the store and complained, so I got nailed for it. Also, I was told that no one in the store respects me because I don't work has hard as them, which is about the biggest pile of shit I've heard in forever. I'm the one there at 5am and I'm the one who's stay later, while I let my team members go home. It was also said to me that I use the computer to much, which is BS. The problem is these people don't understand about Margin and profit and other operational aspects of running the business, so when they see me at the computer checking our sales, then comparing them to margin and stuff, they think I'm just slacking off when I'm really trying get them their bonus. But did my store manager stand up for me, no, he just digged my on my review and moved on. Sweet

One good thing that has happened this week was I won tickets on the radio to the 10th anniversary concert for Shawn and Richie at Northern Lights!! I was on the radio! "Outstanding!" Got a trivia question right and won 4 tickets!! SO PUMPED!! Brandi and I and I'm not sure yet are going to have a blast. Eli Young Band and Justin Moore are going to rock the house and I'm so glad I'm going to be in the audience for that show.

Well, I'm going to head to the doctors and hopefully get some good news. I took the day off today so I'll be home and I'm sure I'll have more to blog about later.

Good Friday...

So, my first real post on my new revamped blog! So cool! Anyway, today is Good Friday. As those of us who are religous began praying and celebrating and all those church type things, I would like to say a few things.

First off, I would like to ask that all of you say a few prayers for the family of LAA Angel's Pitcher Nick Adenhart (22), who was killed in a Hit-and-Run accident early Thursday morning after pitching the best game of his young life. The perp in this tragic act was a 22 year old man, who was intoxicated. This "person" (and I use this term loosely) was driving on a suspended license for "past driving infractions involving being under the influence." What a winner....argg.

(Little bit of preaching here, "If you are going to go out drinking, get a friggin DD or take a taxi, we've only been told this since we where what, 10 years old!")

I also would like to talk about the Pirate situation in the Indian Ocean. Currently Somali pirates are holding Capt. Richard Phillips has a hostage in a small enclosed life raft, after attempting to take his cargo ship by force. Capt. Phillips heroicly offered himself as a hostage, so as to ensure the freedom and lives of his crew. All I gotta say is WOW! As sad as the situation his, you gotta admire this guys chops. Another true American!

Capt. Phillips showed a little more steel this morning when he chose to brave the shark infested waters and the ire of the pirates by jumping, yes JUMPING into ocean in an attempt to swim away. Good Lord! Unfortantanly the bad guys got to him before the US Navy could and he's still in their captivity.

The news is reporting that other pirate ships are enroute to help thier comrades....and on the those ships are hostages they have taken earlier this month. WTF is going on over there? These jack offs just pick a boat, take control, and the flag country that boat is sailing under just says, "Oh, that's horrible" and looks the other way?!

I know that our military is really spread thin right now, but something has to be down with these Somalis and has to be down quickly. We should have completed the mission in 1998, but Pres. Clinton didn't want to offend the UN.....Screw'em and let's settle this hash once and for all. I'm disgusted to see that we are negotating with these criminals, instead of writing plans to blow thier stinking ass's off this earth!!

But anyway, that's enough for right now. I'm heading off to work, which should be a blast due to the severe pain in my left knee. I can't walk on it or bend it to much, but I can't give certain people any fuel to throw at me....I'll save that for another post. Later all be safe!

A little change of things.....

So, as I sat here thinking about baseball, I realized that I have alot of other things I would like to talk about, so.....I'm going to change this blog up a little bit. I will still talk about baseball because I love baseball and it's my blog, but I will also be giving my opinions on other matters, talk about my life, my kids and wifey, and whatever else I feel like putting down. I hope those of you who visit and read, enjoy.

2 Games in the books....

Well, the first two games on Opening Day are in the books and they both had very interesting outcomes. The Mets and Reds slogged through a rain soaked pitchers duel, with Johan Santana coming out on top. The Reds through an interesting line-up out there today, with Willy T out with the flu. Jay Bruce needs to show some of that power and Joey Votto also needs to step up this year to make up for the missing power of Adam Dunn. The Mets meanwhile looked ok, though I expected more from thier line-up. We'll just have to see how this plays out.

I was really excited to watch the Rangers and Indians. Wicked hitting by the hometown Rangers, with big Hank Blalock leading the way. What a Home Run!! Cliff Lee took a chip shot to his pitching forearm early and just never seemed to settle down. I was really looking for him to show his Cy Young form, but maybe we'll see that next time around. Millwood was very good for Texas and this could be a big year for the Ranger Ace, with a potent offense behind him.

This evening, I'm reserving some blog space for my beloved Astros! I can't wait to see our line up and I love seeing us face Big Z. It should be a great game with Astros' Ace Roy O opening the series.

Just a Random Rant - Why does MLB insist on playing games in open top ballparks in the north half of the country for the first two weeks of the season? 3 or 4 games already PP due to weather....are you kidding me Bud? How's that revenue flowing now?

One of the greatest holiday's of all time is here! Opening Day for Baseball!

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. This is my second attempt at a blog and I hope the response is greater this time around. My last blog was dedicated to the Astros and it just didn't seem to get the steam it needed.

This blog will be more rounded, with links, stories, and my own personal analyis on games and players.

Just to show my dedication, I went ahead and purchased MLB Extra Innings on my cable provider. This will allow me to watch more games, pick up tid-bits, and really make my wifey mad!!

Now, on to the games. Today Mets v. Reds and Indians v. Rangers to start the season.

Watching the Mets, I kinda expected them to lay a thumping on the Reds, but even with Aaron Harang not pitching sharply, the Mets appear to be struggling. Santana is throwing a 1 hitter and that really takes the pressure off your bats.

The real fun one to watch has been the Rangers and Indians. What a line-up the other team from Texas has put together. Young guns and experiencesd bats, what a combo and the anchor of it all, The Natural - Josh Hamilton. This guy is unreal. I'm realling interested in what Elvis Andrus is going to do for the Rangers this year and Salty needs to come up BIG!

Well, I'll have more after the next round of games, along with some analysis of the first two game.
